Presentation

Scientific presentations will be held either as oral presentation or by poster. Presentations will primarily be given in English. Presentations with a German abstract will be given in German.

Oral Presentation

Usually, presentations will have the following durations. For exact information, please refer to your division.

  • Contributed talks are 15 minutes including discussion and speaker change(12 min talk + 3 min discussion/speaker change)
  • Invited talks are 30 minutes including discussion and speaker change (25 min talk + 5 min discussion/speaker change)
  • Plenary presentations are 45 minutes without discussion

All lecture rooms are standardly equipped with a projector (“beamer”) with VGA input. The speakers must provide laptops as well as all associated adapters (e.g. HDMI to VGA, Apple-adapter).

The projectors mainly display in the 4:3 format. However they are compatible with the 16:9, limited to the display width. Some newer systems also work directly with 16:9.

Additionally, lecturers are requested to bring their presentation (pdf or PowerPoint) on an USB memory stick.

Overhead projectors (OHPs) are not available.

Checklist for speakers:

• Laptop
• Presentation (format 4:3) on an USB stick in PDF and PowerPoint format
• If necessary: associated adapters (e.g. HDMI to VGA, Apple-adapter) in case your laptop has no VGA-input or you will use an Apple-computer.

All lecture rooms will be opened at the latest 40 minutes prior to the lecture. Speakers  are  requested  to  be  in  the  lecture  hall  at  least  25  minutes  prior  to  the  start  of  the  session*, in order to

(1) set up and connect the laptop with the projector via a provided switch (VGA-input, only) or
(2) transfer the presentation from the USB memory-stick to a provided computer in the lecture hall and
(3) to report to the chairperson of the session.

* In HSZ 01, 02, 03 and in GER 38 it is recommended to transfer the presentation on the day before the lecture or on Monday morning.

Please contact to the technical staff to receive a brief introduction to the equipment in the lecture hall.

Every speaker is responsible himself to ensure the laptops handshake with the projectors prior to the start of the respective session.

Each poster should display the number according to the scientific programme.

For the mounting of the poster  please  use  the  provided  mounting  material  at  the  poster  frame  or  contact  the  student  staff available at the poster area.
